What is a Craft Kit?

If you haven’t already seen our craft kits, let me give you some background. I am passionate about including opportunities for students to be creative in the classroom. One way I do that as a public school educator locked down to a scope and sequence is by adding in crafts. By adding in crafts, I can tie them to just about any standard. Science, writing and reading are my favorite times to include crafts but I am known for doing them in math too! This is where these craft kits were born.

These craft kits make it easy for teachers to hit standards AND have some creative fun with their students. Each craft kit has 5 different crafts fitting different themes for that month and 10-20 writing prompts to go along with them. There are also blank writing prompt pages so you can plug in whatever you want! The best part is that each kit comes with quick print craft pieces so if you don’t want to do anything extra you don’t have too. Everything is printable. You can check out the year long bundle here.

Election Day Crafts for Elementary Students

Now that you are familiar with our craft kits I’m so excited to share with you what’s inside of our November craft kit!

November includes Thanksgiving crafts for elementary students but it also includes election day!

I love reading a fun book about election day, watching videos, and discussing the importance of voting. Once students have a good grasp on what election day is, I love to include a fun craft to assess their learning.

Veteran’s Day Crafts for Elementary Students

Another important happening in November is Veteran’s Day. I grew up in a town with a military base so this one is near and dear to my heart. Similar to Election Day, I love introducing this topic by reading an age appropriate picture book and having an open discussion. After that, this craft is the perfect way to celebrate Veteran’s Day. My school has a Veteran’s Day Parade so usually I attach their flags to pencils, popsicle sticks, etc. and let them take them to the parade with us.

Now, this brings me to Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my school districts first break so these activities help fill those few days before break when we have come to a good stopping point in curriculum but still have 2 days of school before break. It is a fun way to have students practice writing standards but also celebrating the holiday!
