As May rolls around and the school year comes to a close, it can be difficult to keep your student’s attention! We know the struggle. One way to keep your students practicing various skills they learned throughout the year while having fun is with these May Craft Ideas for 1st Graders!
End of the Year Craft Ideas for 1st Graders
Included in our May Craft Kit are some fun End of the Year activities, perfect for adding to memory books or displaying in the hallway. Reflect on your year as a class by creating an anchor chart of all of your memories then have students independently complete their craft with their favorite memories!
Give Advice to Next Years Class
One of my favorite May craft favorites, is this “Here’s the Scoop” activity. This is a great way for your first graders to reflect on their year while giving advice to next years first graders. In the past, I have even paired up with a Kindergarten class and we shared the scoop on first grade to help ease nerves about next year. It is a great way for your first graders to practice writing, fine motor skills, speech and language while feeling helpful to kinders!
Get Excited about Summer!
Near the end of the school year, we all have one thing on our minds… SUMMER. During those last few days of school I love to pull out these summer craft ideas. One of my students favorites is writing their summer bucket lists. This is also a great way for students to practice writing lists which isn’t often worked on in first grade standards. First, we create a class list of things we could do in the summer. I am sure to include free things, at home things and out and about things so all students feel seen on the list. Then, students use our list and their own ideas to create their bucket list on these cute beach buckets.
I hope this list gave you some May Craft Ideas for 1st Graders to help close out your school year! You can check out the complete pack of May Crafts here. These Spring craft ideas are perfect for May too, you can those out here!
