January Math Centers for First Grade

January Math Activities for First Grade

Math doesn’t have to be boring with these January Math Centers for First Grade! Get your students engaged, talking and practicing previous skills with fun, themed centers activities.

I have 4 math centers in my classroom:

  1. Hands On – Hands on is where I use these seasonal math center sets
  2. iReady Math/Technology – We are required to do iReady Math each week, if they pass 1 lesson per day they get Fun Friday Technology on Friday. They can do Prodigy, Splash Learn, etc.
  3. Fluency – They practice their addition and subtraction fluency with various games. We love War, First to Finish, and Sums Up just to name a few. You can read about building fact fluency here.
  4. Math Journal – At Math Journal they complete 1 page of their journal that correlates to our current skill. They turn this in daily for me to do a quick check in with where they are independently. When they complete 1 page, they can work on unfinished math work or they have a bin of various math puzzles and games.
